A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meeting was held on December 26, 2011 at the BRAC Centre Inn conference room from 10 am to 1 pm. The agenda of the meeting was to update TAG members on the progress of project activities and share contents of the two Behavior Change Communication (BCC) guidelines for Sex Worker and Injecting Drug User Interventions. Dr. Md. Abdul Waheed, Line Director of the National AIDS/STD Programme (NASP) & Safe Blood Transfusion Programme, chaired the meeting in absence of Dr Timothy G Evans, Dean of JPGSPH. Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, former Vice-Chancellor, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Mr. Abu Yusuf Chowdhury, Executive Director of PIACT Bangladesh and Chairperson of STI/AIDS Network of Bangladesh, Dr. Fadia Sultana, Senior Manager & Focal Person from Save the Children International, Ms. Ismat Bhuiya, Team Leader of the Project & Senior Project Director at JPGSPH, BRAC University and other TAG members also attended the meeting. Ms. Ismat Bhuiya presented on the progress of project activities, discussing the challenges faced, and lessons learned. Since the project is being phased out, she also addressed in her presentation the steps which need to be taken to ensure sustainability of the project outcomes. A discussion was held on the importance of making the District AIDS Committee, one of the project activities, functional in all 64 districts of the country. The members provided their technical input on the BCC guidelines and suggested that they get reviewed and approved by the Technical Committee of National AIDS Committee.
