Ms. Nureen Faiza Anisha, Research Associate, C3ER attended the conference on "Water Security and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities in Asia” at Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand from November 29 to December 2, 2016 organized by The Asian Institute of Technology (through one of its Asia Pacific Network project) in association with Exceed centers CNRD (Cologne) and SWINDON (Braunschweig) in Germany. She presented a paper on "Comparative Study of Access to Safe Drinking Water in Two Coastal Districts of Bangladesh" there which was co-authored with Mr. Reazuddin, Ms. Roufa Khanum and Mr. Moniruzzaman Khan. The paper has been further considered for inclusion in the book on "Water Security and Climate Change" to be published by Springer Nature.
With the goal to create a platform for engaging leading experts in the Asia region and beyond in discussion on water security issues in Asia in order to facilitate the path towards water-secure societies, the conference held several interactive sessions including plenary keynote speeches from Rajendra Singh, Stockholm Water Prize winner in the year 2015, who talked about integrating indigenous knowledge in rural water management and also from Robert Costzana, Vice Chancellor's Chair in Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University, who talked about ecological economics with special focus on water sector. Participated by more than 150 researchers, academicians, professionals and students, the conference discussed about water use efficiency, droughts, floods risk, urban water security, water energy food nexus and many other closely associated challenges in water sector in Asia in the context of climate change.
