A team of 40 architects, academics and architectural historians from the USA visited BRAC University recently as a part of a 4-day study trip to Bangladesh. A 'Symposium-Discussion session on Architecture of Bangladesh' was held on 30 December at BRAC Center Auditorium arranged by the Department of Architecture and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh [IAB]. Dr. Adnan Morshed, Associate Professor, Catholic University of America, USA and the team leader welcomed the guests. Dr. Ken Breisch, Vice President, Society of Architectural Historians [SAH] USA spoke on the role of SAH in the teaching and profession of architecture. In his encouraging speech, Mr. Dan Mozena, Honorable Ambassador of the USA to Bangladesh shed light on the importance of good relationship between Bangladesh and USA. Professor Ainun Nishat, Vice Chancellor, BRAC University; Dr. Zainab Faruqui Ali, Professor, BRAC University; Ar. Mubashshar Hussain, President IAB; Ar. Jalal Ahmed, IAB; Professor Perween Hasan, Acting Vice Chancellor, Central Women's University; Dr Abu Sayeed, Head, University of Asia Pacific and Professor Shamsul Wares, Dean, University of Asia Pacific spoke on various historical, urban and architectural aspects of Dhaka and Bangladesh. The 40 person team will be visiting Delhi and Chandigarh in India next.
