Three researchers from the School, Tasfiyah Jalil, Jhalok Ronjan Talukdar and Ashfique Rizwan, participated in the Summer Programme on Sexuality, Culture and Society at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was a month long course from 10 July to 5 August, 2016, which taught different dimensions of sexual norms and behaviors like historical, cultural, political, and economic dimensions. It also explored both historical and socio-cultural boundaries of sexual norms and behaviors as well as the construction of normativities, such as heterosexuality. It also gave attention to the ways in which sexuality has been framed in past and current theoretical frameworks and to the growing movement which advocates for sexual empowerment and sexual rights.
