On November 24, 2016, Mr. Pankaj Paul, Lecturer at BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), conducted a session on “Taxonomy of Language Learning” at the Writing Centre. The focus of the session was on certain language teaching principles that are pivotal for effective language teaching. This taxonomy was developed by Arizona State University for one of its online courses which aims to assist prospective and current ESL/EFL (English as a Second Language/English as a Foreign Language) teachers to identify, summarize, and evaluate 7 basic language learning paradigms through a series of engaging metaphors and stories.
The attendees of the session included several BIL lecturers, who contributed their personal opinions regarding the role of teacher and students, thus making the discussion more vibrant and interactive.
