In August 2016, individual and group advising sessions with probation students were taking place. Students came to probation advisers at the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) for these advising sessions. Solaiman Jony and Fatema Israt Jahan, probation advisers from the OSA conducted these sessions. Students were advised to prepare ahead of their final exam day and perform better in the exam and were given handouts on ‘final exam preparation tips’.
After publication of results, probation advisers from OSA collected and analyzed the results of probation students of Summer 2016 semester. From analysis it has been found that after attending PASS program (i.e. individual advising, group advising, tutorial sessions and PASS workshops) 70.83% last chance probation students successfully overcame academic probation. Moreover, in case of the first time probation students 67.46% survived from being into academic probation for two consecutive semesters.
After result publication of summer 2016 semester, students were coming to OSA asking for further process regarding getting chance at BRAC University. Ms. Fatema Israt and Ms. Tanjia Afrin instructed the students and referred them to respective department and registrar office.
Furthermore, Probation advisers from OSA also collected the Pharmacy probation list of Summer 2016 from Ms. Nazmus Sabeka from the office of registrar. The list was categorized into (1) first time probation and (2) last chance probation. 9 students are in first time academic probation and 7 students got one more last chance to continue. After that the probation list of PHR department and tutorial schedule for PHR students was sent to Probation advisers of Pharmacy department. However, 13 students came to OSA for Individual probation advising with their respective probation adviser.
