As a Principal Investigator, Dr Sharmind Neelotpol, Professor, School of Pharmacy, has received a grant of 20.28 Lac BDT, for Advanced Research Education (GARE) from Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS), Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The topic of the research proposal is “Association of vitamin D levels and vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms with chronic inflammation, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome components in Type 2 diabetic Bangladeshi patients”.
Dr Neelotpol has also been awarded the BRAC University Faculty Research Fund in September, 2023. The topic of her study is “Can vitamin E intervention attenuate heavy metal toxicities? A clinical study”.
In December 2023, Dr Neelotpol has achieved the Gender Grant 2023 by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). This gender-grant project initiative can help female faculty members to address the barriers faced by women in research. Through this, women will be motivated to stay in teaching and research. This can lead to increased productivity, continuity in research projects, and reduced turnover costs. Leadership development programs and mentorship initiatives can empower women to participate in decision-making processes.
