IEEE BRAC University Student Branch organized a seminar on “Electric Power Engineering Education : a 21st Century Model” on the 17th of April 2017 at the GDLN Centre, BRAC University. Professor Saifur Rahman, PhD, director of Virginia Tech Advanced Research Institute Arlington, USA, was gracious enough to share his experiences with the respected faculty members and students during this event. Our honored guest serves as the Chair elect of IEEE PES and have various ventures in the research of renewable energy, smart cities, smart grids, storage applications, electric vehicles and so on. He talked about his ongoing projects and gave everyone the link to his website where the necessary information can be found in details. The Chairperson of the EEE Department, Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan led the entire session, representing BRAC University. Many professionals from other organizations, such as EnergyPac etc. were present to make this event a great success. A bouquet of flowers and refreshments were served after the concluding speech by our guest. Overall, the event was extremely informative as an insightful question answer session made everyone more aware of the potential of engineering around us.
