The Team with Madam Justice Naima Haider, Honourable Justice of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh
The Moot Court Team of the School of Law, BRAC University, won the Best Memorial Award among all the participating universities in the 8th Bangladesh National Round of the 65th Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2024, held between 1-3rd February 2024 at the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB). The Bangladesh Round was the 3rd largest in the world this year. The School of Law, BRAC University team has also ranked in the top 3 in Bangladesh out of 32 teams, securing a funded place to participate in the International Round to be held from 30th March to 6th April in Washington, D.C., USA. The funding will be borne jointly by the US Department of State, Department of Justice and USAID.
The School of Law team comprised of LL.B. Final Year students Niaz Mohammad, Taskin Tanika and Fahim Abrar Abid. They were guided and coached by Mr. Md. Mostafa Hosain, Assistant Professor of the School of Law. The team is now preparing for the International Round, where they will be competing against the best teams from globally reputed prestigious Law Schools.
Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's most prestigious and oldest Moot Court Competition. Jessup is commonly known as the ‘World Cup’ of mooting. It is also the largest Moot Competition, with more than 700 law schools around the world participating this year. The Bangladesh Qualifying Round, organized by Jessup Bangladesh in association with the US Department of Justice, Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development Assistance and Training, and International Law Students Association (ILSA), was hosted by AIUB this year.
Moot Court Competition plays a pivotal role in the life of a law student, shaping a successful global career in the legal arena. School of Law, BRAC University has been emphasizing the growth of law students through organizing and participating in Moot Court Competitions over the years. The Law School previously participated thrice in the International Round of the Competition.
