The University Innovation Hub Program was officially launched at BRAC University in a Town Hall event held on February 5, 2024, marking a significant milestone in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the university community.
Distinguished as the Special Guest, Mr. Matin Saad Abdullah, PhD, Professor from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at BRAC University, delivered an insightful speech, describing the context for the groundbreaking initiative. Following this, Mr. Ananya Raihan, Consultant, University Innovation Hub Program, expounded on the design and objectives of the program.
Mr. M. Latiful Khabir, the Innovation Hub Coordinator, took the stage to provide an overview of the University Innovation Hub Program and engage the audience in a vibrant question-and-answer session.
The event also featured a speech on 'Innovation in Practice' by Mr. Shubho Al Farooque, the Founder & CEO of Zantrik.
Adding to the diversity of perspectives, Mr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Project Management Specialist from Bangladesh High-tech Park Authority, delivered a speech as a Special Guest. The Chief Guest, Mr. David Dowland, Registrar of BRAC University, shared valuable insights in his speech, emphasizing the significance of innovation in academic settings.
Concluding the event on a note of gratitude, Ms. Afshana Choudhury, Joint Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at BRAC University, extended a warm vote of thanks to all participants and contributors.
The Bangladesh High-tech Park Authority (BHTPA) has initiated the 'University Innovation Hub Program' named 'Smart Unibator.' This program aims to establish 10 innovation hubs within as many universities, laying the groundwork for a robust innovation ecosystem.
The hubs are going to function as epicenters for raising greater awareness of the importance of innovation, nurturing a culture of innovation, inculcating an entrepreneurship mindset, and promoting a collaborative environment, and openness among students, graduates, researchers, and faculty members within and around participating universities.
