BRAC University Adventure Club (BUAC) organized their extra ordinary event titled “Thrill Exhibit”; a two day-long Tourism Fair from 2nd to 3rd October, 2016 with 12 renowned travel agencies of Bangladesh as stall participants offering various corporate trips in home and abroad. Foring, Jovago Bangladesh, Dhaka Resort, Activation Tourism, Golpata Eco Tours, Linijco Tours and Travels, Tiger Tours and Travels, Krishibid Tours and Travels Ltd., Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Galaxy Tours and Travels Bangladesh were the stall participants, Pizza Inn and Bell Pepper Ltd. participated as the food partners. A seminar took place on ‘prospects of adventure tourism in Bangladesh’, Mr Taufiq Uddin Ahmed, President of Tour Operators’ Association of Bangladesh launched the club’s 3rd magazine and celebrated club’s 5th Anniversary. Guests who attended the fair were awestruck and impressed with the unique arrangement and decorations of the fair. The fair was inaugurated by Mr. Akhtar Uzzaman Khan Kabir, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board as the chief guest.
The honourable guests discussed the prospects and challenges in this sector in comparison nearby Asian countries. They emphasised that Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing markets for international and domestic tourists. If we can popularize adventure sports in Bangladesh, this sector can flourish more and more. Mr. Parvez A. Chowdhury, Principal of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation mentioned how the tourism plans of Bangladesh was structured and what steps could be taken to bring in more tourists in this country. Mr. Ivan Shafaat Bari, Director of Office of Co-Curricular Activities, BRAC University, along with the advisor of the club, Muhammad Foysal Mubarak, handed over crests to the honourable guests as a token of appreciation for their contribution in the event. A cultural program in co-ordination with BRAC University Drama and Theatre Forum was organised for celebrating the 5th Anniversary of BRAC University Adventure Club focusing on the indigenous culture.
After a brief presentation on the activities of BUAC and the achievements so far, Abdullah Al Noman, the president of BUAC shared a few words thanking everyone for putting up such a successful event. As the editor of the magazine Geetanjali Oishe, Director of Publications of BRAC University Adventure Club, explained the magazine’s theme which was based on promoting adventure sports in Bangladesh, titled “Adventure Bangladesh”.
As part of the closing ceremony, a birthday cake was cut to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the club with members from BRACU Alumni Association, Office of Co-Curricular Activities, beloved mentors and all the members of the club.
