Asian Development Bank (ADB's) Regional Technical Assistance (TA) on Strengthening and Use of Country Safeguard Systems sorted out the workshop which held on 23 to 25 August 2016 at Caravelle Hotel, Vietnam. The CSS Workshop in the South and Southeast Asia Regions of ADB is planning to advance the sharing of experiences, innovative approaches, and challenges in applying environmental and social safeguards among specialists in ADB's Developing Member Countries in the South (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka) and Southeast (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) subregions. The purposes of the Workshop were to (a) highlight lessons, challenges and opportunities (b) managing environmental and social risks and impacts, (c) identifying challenges and specific gaps in applying CSS. ADB invited Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus and Advisor, C3ER, BRAC University to participate in the workshop.
