Tonima Fairooz Mouly commenced her role as a lecturer at BRAC University in September 2023. Prior to joining the university, she served as a research assistant at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Landscape Epidemiology at icddr,b.
Tonima Fairooz Mouly completed her school and college from Viqarunnisa Noon School & College. She completed her BSc. in Microbiology from Brac University. She achieved her MS Degree in Microbiology from Jagannath University. For her BSc. thesis, she focused on identifying potential point mutations in the gyrA gene of ciprofloxacin-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from patients with lung infections. Additionally, her Master's thesis centered on the molecular characterization of clinical Vibrio cholerae isolates, investigating amino acid substitutions in gyrA and parC genes associated with Ciprofloxacin resistance.
Tonima Fairooz Mouly is particularly concerned about the global threat of antibiotic resistance and has chosen Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) as her primary research area of interest.
