Mahmuda Kabir has joined as a Lecturer in Biotechnology Program of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, BRAC University since September 2022. She has completed both her BS(Hons.) and MS from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka. Her research interest encompasses molecular oncology, precision medicine and identification of genetic diseases. She did her BS project on ‘The Role of Golgi Protein in Cancer.’ During her master’s degree, she continued working on oncology with the dissertation title ‘Expression Status of HER2 and its Oncogenic Alterations in Bangladeshi Breast Cancer Patients: A Demographic, in silico and ctDNA-based Study.’
Mahmuda has always been actively involved in leadership and co-curricular activities. She believes in promoting and popularization of science and scientific literacy in Bengali among mass people. During Covid-19 she worked as a trainer on a project launched by the EMK center to “Prepare STEM Teachers for Post-Covid Pandemic Pedagogy”. She holds the position of the first female CEO of the Network of Young Biotechnologists of Bangladesh (NYBB) – a national platform that works to connect and bring inspiration and innovation to every Bangladeshi Biotechnologist of the world.
